Negotiations for the successor contract for Chicago Ridge Police Officers and Sergeants started in January 2014 with the Union presenting twenty-four contractual changes.  The employer submitted an additional nine, leaving thirty-three issues to be resolved at the bargaining table.  Negotiations are never easy in Chicago Ridge as the employer routinely claims financial distress.  However, the dedicated team of negotiators was determined to resolve matters amicably.  After many long meetings, the list of issues was paired down and through the sheer tenacity of the team, a deal was struck. The resulting agreement covers minimal increases to the fixed rate of insurance coverage, a 100% increase to stipends for Investigators and Juvenile Officers and adding the Traffic Officer to the stipend list.  Two percent wage increases effective January 2014, 2015 and 2016 along with a new light duty clause in the contract summed up what was at times a very tumultuous set of negotiations.  Officer Eric Casper lead the group dedicated members and was assisted by Field Representative Keith Turney.
