Libertyville Sergeants were very focused on their wages, benefits and job responsibilities.  Although sergeants enjoy a very good relationship with the village administration and police department leadership, they were not interested in a quick resolution without addressing job and duty related concerns.  As is usually the case, a full vetting of the issues by both sides afforded compromise and resolution to everyone’s concerns.  The process took over a year to accomplish.  The end result was a three year agreement with an overall compensation package of 5% retroactive to 5/1/14.  Additional accomplishments at the table were compensatory time cash out provisions, additional time credits to holiday and personal time, bidding procedures for special event assignments and a new vacation carryover provision.  Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council Field Representative Keith Turney was quoted as saying; “The Libertyville Sergeants were definitely dedicated to the collective bargaining process and their diligent efforts paid dividends in earning the respect of their employer and some added benefits that were not readily available when we first entered the process.  It was great to work for such a dedicated group.”
