A three year agreement was reached with wage increases in each year of the agreement. Rank pay was changed from a fixed dollar amount to a percentage on base: Corporal 5% and Sergeant 7.75% in year one, Sergeant increases to 10% beginning in year two. There was an increase in single employee health care premium cost sharing. Experimental 12-hour shifts was incorporated into the contract as the defined shift. Rank seniority was defined in the contract and applied to shift bid and vacation selections. Other changes were made in several areas. The local team was headed by James Rehann and consisted of Robert Sherren, Maurice Johnson and Joe Meister, Field Repesentative Dave Nixon assisted the local team.
