Union Steward Election
The FOP Labor Council is holding a Local Steward Election, to elect five (5) LOCAL STEWARDS to compliment the elected Union Board Members. One (1) LOCAL STEWARD shall be elected from each District (Rolling Meadows, Skokie, Maywood, Bridgeview and Markham) to serve as temporary conduits to the membership for communication purposes. These stewards will hold the office UNTIL such time as Local Union By-Laws are installed by the membership that will define the terms of office of all elected union officials as well as the make-up and number of union stewards throughout the CCSPD.
Starting April 1 and ending April 8, union members in the CCSP can nominate other CCSP union members to be on the Election Ballot for the Union Steward Election. Nominations will be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org the following information:
- the name of the Officer being nominated (“nominee”);
- the name of the Officer doing the nomination;
- the nominee’s work assignment (which District he/she works);
- the nominee’s cell number;
- the nominee’s PERSONAL email address.
The nomination should be done through using personal email. DO NOT USE COUNTY EMAIL for this process.
On April 9 and 10, the FOPLC will contact the nominees to confirm they want to be on the Election Ballot. If all this information is provided and the nominee confirms acceptance of his/her name on the Election Ballot by April 10, the nomination is considered completed.
Election Ballots will be mailed to union members’ home addresses on April 11. The Election Ballot will ask each union member to vote for one (1) steward in each district. The Election Ballots will be mailed to the FOPLC Western Springs Office and due no later than April 30. On May 1, the Election Ballots received will be counted and the results will be posted on the FOPLC Website.
The elected stewards will be immediately responsible for distributing written copies of the contract, which is posted in electronic form on the Union website www.ccsp.fop.org under the Vital Document section.
