Paycheck Error Identified By Union
By Gary Bailey, Attorney - Thursday, June 27, 2019
With regard to your June 28 paycheck, it has been determined and we have been informed that Cook County Police Officers were inadvertently “moved back a step”, rather than frozen in their steps pursuant to the 2017-2020 collective bargaining agreement.
As a result, the June 1 wage increase (also referred to as the “compression increase”) will not appear on the June 28 paycheck.
After this error was identified, County officials acknowledged the problem and have explained that they are correcting it. As of yet, not date has been confirmed as to when the correction will be made, but we are told the correction could be made by the July 12 (next) paycheck.
We are further assured that retroactive pay for the monies lost because of this error will also be made, but will not necessarily be included on the July 12 paycheck.
We will keep you updated on this situation (on this website) as further details are made available.
IF YOUR PAYCHECK SHOWS ANY OTHER IRREGULARITIES, contact your Union Steward so inquiries can be made and, if necessary, a grievance can be prepared and filed.
