McHenry County Peace Officers

The negotiations and med-arb were dominated by the two major economic issues of wages and insurance. The insurance issue was extremely important to Union members, both for the active members, and for current and potential retirees. The Union argued that insurance increases and plan changes were not justified. Having joined a broad consortium for insurance purposes, in recent years McHenry County has seen increases in insurance premiums that have been below the rate of inflation, meaning that costs in real terms have dropped. The Union was able to prevail on the insurance issue. Wages increases were 2.2%, 2%, and 2% over the three year term. Matt Matusek, Jen Garafol, Trevor Vogel, Make Quick did an excellent job bargaining these issues.
