A one year contract was negotiated in view of the current uncertainty. The Village moved to a high deductible health plan, but increased wages by $2500 for all employees to compensate for the increased deductible. In addition there was a 2.8% increase and a compression of one step, from 8 to 7 in the wage matrix. Importantly the department will move to a 12-hour shift on a trial basis with the possibility that this change, desired by the great majority of unit members, will become permanent.
